Cross Country Hosts Third Annual Yetis Invitational
SHELBY, NC — The North Campus home course buzzed with excitement on Saturday as the third annual Yetis Invitational showcased collegiate cross country talent from six states. The event attracted a diverse array of institutions, including Guilford College, USC-Sumter, and Campbellsville University, making for a thrilling day of competition.
In a commanding performance, Truett-McConnell University emerged as the overall champion, clinching victories in both the men's and women's races.
The Yetis of Cleveland Community College also made their mark, with Nehemiah Garcia leading the way for the home team. Garcia finished the men's 8K in 29:58, securing a commendable 7th place overall. Parker Wilson was the top finisher for the Yetis women's team, crossing the finish line in 29:00 in the 5K, which placed her 27th.
The competition was fierce, with runners pushing their limits on the challenging course. Yetis supporters turned out in force to cheer on their athletes, creating an encouraging atmosphere that added to the day's excitement.
As the Yetis look ahead, they will next compete at the Queens University Challenge in Charlotte on October 11, where they will face off against a new set of challengers.
