Yetis Compete in Cary
Cleveland Community College's Cross Country team competed at the Adidas XC Challenge on Friday, September 17.
The meet took place in Cary, NC and was hosted by NC State University. The meet marked the first time that the Yeti women scored as a team. In another first in program history, the Yeti women finished ahead of a four year program. The ladies finished more than nine minutes ahead of NCAA Division II Chowan, a 5 point differential in the final standings. "I couldn't be happier with the way our team competed," said Coach Steve McCachren. "To finish ahead of a four year school is a tremendous accomplishment for our program."
The women's team consists of Lily Clark (North Gaston, 2021), Lindy Jenkins (Pinnacle, 2020), Anastazia Rodriguez (North Gaston, 2021), Rylie Carroll (Kings Mountain, 2021) and Eliana Philbeck (North Gaston, 2021). Top finisher for the women's team was Lily Clark. William Fuzie (Kings Mountain 2020) was the top finisher for the Yeti men. The team will next compete on October 2 at the Koala Classic, hosted by Columbia College in Columbia, SC.
