Yetis Volleyball Sweeps Davidson Davie in Home Opener

Shelby, August 26, 2024 — Cleveland Community College delivered a commanding performance in their 3-0 victory over Davidson-Davie Community College. The first home match, held on the Yetis home court, saw the hosts sweep all three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-20, showcasing their superior play throughout the evening.
Cleveland's offense was the highlight of the match, with the team maintaining a strong attack throughout the three sets. The team's overall hitting efficiency was impressive, particularly in the first set where they recorded a .379 attack percentage. Alexis Plumber led the offensive charge with seven kills and a remarkable .429 hitting percentage in the second set. Meanwhile, Sara Rose Warlick added eight kills and a .250 hitting percentage across all three sets, proving to be a consistent threat.


Kassie Swink also contributed significantly with five kills and a .235 hitting percentage, and Daniela Castillo impressed with a .750 hitting percentage from three kills. Cleveland's balanced and aggressive attack was pivotal in their ability to control the game.
Cleveland's defensive efforts were notable, with the team collecting a total of 67 digs and successfully blocking 14 attempts, including six block assists. Their defense effectively neutralized Davidson-Davie's attacks, preventing any significant scoring runs.
In contrast, Davidson-Davie's defense was less effective, managing only 63 digs and struggling with their blocking efforts. This lack of defensive solidity contributed to their inability to counter Cleveland's offensive pushes.
