CCC Yetis Make Strides at Montreat Open
The Cleveland Community College Yetis Track and Field team hit the track at Montreat College on Friday, March 21, for the Montreat Open—and the squad continues to show progress as the outdoor season builds momentum.
Leading the way for the men's team, freshman Jonathan Davis delivered a standout performance in the 400 meters. Davis shattered his own school record by more than a full second, clocking in at 50.47 seconds, a milestone in the program's early history.
In the distance events, Yahir Vega came within seconds of rewriting the record books again. Competing in the 5000 meters, Vega turned in a time of 18:40, narrowly missing his personal and school best.
On the women's side, Leilanni Delano showed her versatility by competing in both the 400 and 800 meters. She posted a solid 1:10 in the 400 meters and followed it up with a 3:04 in the 800 meters—promising marks as she continues to build strength and pace.
The Yetis now look ahead to their next test at Davidson College for the Davidson Relays on Saturday, March 29. With every race, CCC's athletes are laying the foundation for a strong season—and a stronger future for Yetis Track and Field.
