Women’s Basketball Season Wrap-Up: A Year of Grit, Growth, and Recognition
As the season ends, the women's basketball team has plenty to celebrate. Throughout their challenging 29-game schedule, they displayed remarkable toughness, skill, and teamwork, leaving a lasting mark on the court. Their strong offensive and defensive presence, along with standout individual performances, underscored a season defined by dedication and competitive spirit.
Reflecting on the team's journey, Coach Lawrence shared, "Our style of play and culture were on full display this year, and I'm incredibly proud of the hard work the ladies put in, game in and game out."
"From resilience to greatness, this season has been a testament to the hard work, dedication, and growth of our team. Going from a record of 5-23 to 32-6 is just the beginning – we can't wait to build on this success," shared Athletic Director Andy Gardner.
The team consistently delivered on offense, averaging 69.4 points per game. Their efficiency was evident in a 38.7% field goal percentage, with 648 total field goals made on 1,673 attempts. From beyond the arc, they made their mark, sinking 179 three-pointers at a 28.2% clip, averaging 6.6 made threes per game. Kari Lee finished seventh in the region in scoring, while Jasmine Twitty finished in the top ten in scoring. Notably, Grace East set a school record with seven three-pointers on February 12, 2025, against Catawba Valley Community College, while Jonnah Castillo matched the record on February 26, 2025, against Denmark Technical College.
On the boards, the team asserted dominance with 38.0 rebounds per game, including 12.6 offensive rebounds per game, creating crucial second-chance opportunities. Defensively, they limited opponents' opportunities with 25.4 defensive rebounds per game, showcasing their ability to control possessions. Sydnie Enste finished third in the region in rebounding, averaging 10.3 rebounds per game, while Jasmine Twitty finished fifth in the region in rebounding, averaging 9.1 rebounds per game
Defensively, the team's hustle and intensity were evident, forcing turnovers and disrupting offensive sets. They racked up 239 steals (8.9 per game) and 110 blocks (4.1 per game), earning a defensive efficiency rating of 0.845. Sydnie Enste led Region 10 in blocked shots with 2.4 per game.
The team finished with an overall record of 23-6, finishing third in the conference with a 16-4 record, and a 11-2 home record. During the season, the Yetis had an 11-game winning streak, longest in school history.
Key Individual Achievements
Several players received well-earned recognition for their outstanding contributions this season:
- Kari Lee was named to the NJCAA Region 10 All-Region First Team, a testament to her leadership and impact on both ends of the court. She also finished third in Region 10 in assists, averaging 5.1 per game.
- Jasmine Twitty secured a spot on the NJCAA Region 10 All-Region Second Team, making her mark with consistent, all-around play.
- Sydnie Enste led Region 10 in blocked shots, averaging 2.4 per game, cementing her defensive prowess.
- Off the court, Alexandria Castillo and Jasmine Twitty earned spots on the All-Academic Team for Region 10, demonstrating excellence both in the classroom and on the court.
