Shelby, NC – The CCC Yetis showcased offensive firepower and dominant pitching over the weekend, sweeping Southwest Virginia Community College in a four-game series that saw the Yetis outscore their opponents 57-2.
Game 1: CCC Yetis 13, Southwest Virginia 0
The Yetis set the tone early in the first game of the doubleheader on Friday night, cruising to a 13-0 victory in five innings. CCC's offense came alive in the second inning with three runs, followed by a six-run explosion in the third.
Peyton Whitson led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Kassie Swink added three hits and three RBIs, while Sayge Strange pitched a gem, striking out 11 and allowing just one hit over five shutout innings.
Southwest Virginia struggled at the plate, managing only a single hit from Emma Wilcox, while defensive miscues added to their troubles with five errors.
Game 2: CCC Yetis 11, Southwest Virginia 0 (No-Hitter)
The Yetis kept their momentum going in the nightcap, rolling to an 11-0 win in another five-inning affair. Christian Beaver was untouchable in the circle, tossing a no-hitter while striking out 10 and walking just two.
At the plate, CCC continued its offensive dominance. Austyn Dixon led the charge with two doubles and two RBIs, while Sayge Strange blasted a two-run homer in the second inning. Whitson and Swink contributed two RBIs each, as the Yetis capitalized on every opportunity.
Game 3: CCC Yetis 22, Southwest Virginia 0
If the first two games weren't dominant enough, CCC turned in one of their most lopsided victories of the season on Saturday afternoon, routing Southwest Virginia 22-0 in just four innings.
A 15-run third inning put the game out of reach early, highlighted by a grand slam from Austyn Dixon, who finished with six RBIs. Strange also launched a homer and drove in three, while Allison Setzer added four RBIs.
Yet again, the Yetis' pitching was outstanding. Strange threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out seven.
Game 4: CCC Yetis 11, Southwest Virginia 2
Southwest Virginia finally broke through in the series finale, plating two runs in the third inning thanks to a two-run homer from Emma Wilcox. However, CCC remained unfazed and continued its offensive onslaught.
Sayge Strange delivered another standout performance, going 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs. Whitson, Swink, and Dixon all contributed with extra-base hits, as the Yetis wrapped up the series with another dominant five-inning win.
Beaver picked up her second win of the weekend, tossing a complete game with eight strikeouts while allowing just four hits.
Yetis' Weekend Dominance
Over four games, CCC outscored Southwest Virginia 57-2, recording three shutouts and allowing just seven total hits. The Yetis' pitching staff struck out 36 batters while issuing only eight walks.
Offensively, CCC was nearly unstoppable, racking up 50 hits, including four home runs and nine extra-base hits. Dixon and Strange were the biggest contributors, combining for 12 RBIs, while Whitson and Swink continued to provide steady production at the top of the lineup.
With the sweep, the Yetis improved their season record, proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with in regional play.
