Frazier Field, Louisburg, NC — The Cleveland Community College Yetis showed grit and determination in a hard-fought weekend series against the Louisburg College Hurricanes, featuring three tightly contested matchups. Despite going 1–2 on the road, the Yetis demonstrated depth on the mound, flashes of offensive power, and steady defensive play.
Game 1: Late Homer Seals it for Hurricanes
Final: Louisburg 2, Cleveland CC 1
March 28, 2025 – 10:00 PM
Game one saw a pitching duel unfold between CCC's Jackson Gowan and Louisburg's arms. Gowan delivered a strong outing, going 8 innings with 7 strikeouts and allowing just 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Despite a 10-hit effort from the Yetis' offense, including multi-hit games from Logan Norris (2-for-5) and Nick Morris (2-for-4), the team stranded 11 runners on base.
The Yetis tied it in the fourth on an error that allowed Cruise Arnold to cross the plate. However, a solo home run by Louisburg's James Green in the bottom of the ninth proved to be the game-winner.
Game 2: Yetis Outlast Hurricanes in 5–4 Victory
Final: Cleveland CC 5, Louisburg 4
March 29, 2025 – 5:00 PM
The second game of the series was all about capitalizing on opportunities. The Yetis jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first two innings, including RBIs from Evan Estes, Logan Norris, and Nick Morris, who later added a key sixth-inning single to bring in another run.
On the mound, Jackson Nash earned his first win of the season with a 5.2-inning effort. Andrew Hart and Liam Foley combined for the final 3.1 innings, with Foley picking up the save. Defensively, CCC played error-free baseball and turned multiple double plays to stifle Hurricanes' rallies.
Game 3: One Inning Slips Away from Yetis
Final: Louisburg 4, Cleveland CC 1
March 29, 2025 – 8:00 PM
Game three was a defensive showcase until the sixth inning, when Louisburg struck for four runs, capitalizing on a two-RBI double from Evan Slawinski and a groundout RBI by James Green. The Yetis responded with a run in the sixth thanks to a clutch RBI single from Cruise Arnold, but couldn't build further momentum.
Keely Furr took the loss despite limiting Louisburg to just five hits over five innings. Offensively, the Yetis were limited to four hits, and though they drew five walks, they couldn't break through the Hurricanes' bullpen. CCC will look to build on this performance as they continue their season. Stay tuned for updates as the Yetis return to action next week.
